It depends on your vehicle, if the accident was your fault, and your age. If I were you I would get quotes from other insurance agencies, because that's a little ridiculous. (Try State Farm.) With State Farm you also get multi-line discounts if you have life, health, homeowners, or renter's insurance with them. You also can get an Academic Achievement Discount if you turn in a report card with an A or B average as well as a defensive driving discount if you've taken that. You will need to provide them with your Name, Address, Phone Number, Date of Birth, Social Security Number, Driver's License Number and the state in which you are licensed, the vehicle year, make, and model, and the vehicle's VIN. Go to www.statefarm.com and go to "agent locator" to find an agent near you.

If you think it's too high, shop around for another policy. See what other companies would charge you. THAT'S how you get a feel for it.

For all *I* know, you're 17 years old, and driving a brand new corvette with full coverage, in NJ. IN which case, $209 is a FANTASTIC price.

See, there's too many variables for people to pass judgement based on "I have one accident."

Your credit score ALSO counts heavily.

That's kinda high, but if you are young and depending on the car you drive, it would make sense. Also, insurance takes into account where you live, how much you drive, you might have low deductibles too.... Most companies also use something called and Insurance Score to rate your policy. Amoungst other things, it factors in your credit score too. So, you can always call around for other quotes but these are some things to keep in mind.

dahlia
change your deductibles and comp./collision maximums.

The bad thing about crappy car insurance is that you don't have a real agent willing to help you out when you need it.

oh, if you've had a lapse in the last year, it can make it really high too.

Clint
Depends on what you drice and age. But 1200 a year doesn't sound to far off

clint, that would be not 1200 but over 2400.
and that could be high, are you under 25? are you a student?are you single? was your accident your fault? do you have bad credit? what kind of car are you driving? are you getting any discounts? if your a student can you get a good student discount? do you have an licensed kids in the house? how far do you drive a day? do you have the absolute minum bodily injury limits, the less coverage you buy, the crappier the company or "tier" your insuance company puts you in.
if you have low limits, have you tried geico?
