It was on New Years Eve and because the pub was very busy all the coat hooks were full. So the bar person offered to put it in the reception area. On leaving the pub my jacket was missing, it seems as though someone has stolen it!
The pub are claiming that they are not responsible and that items are left at the owners risk. Is this the case or could I claim compensation from the pub or their insurers?
The jacket cost £230! |

I don't think the pub's insurance will cover this. There is usually a sign up saying "items left at owner's risk". Your home insurance may cover you for the loss. I would ring them and explain the situation but look at your policy first to see if there are any clues. |

It is so bad, i feel you, any thing stolen makes you feeling very bad,not expensive things only but any thing ,specially if you think it is in a safe place or at least in a common place, and special things when you love it or prefer it you feel very bad when you lose
i lost my lab top in Spain last September, it was stolen in the train station ,i get another one, may be faster
but i still not happy ,feeling bad for that, i cannot overcome this bad sensation of losing loved thing |

Your responsibility I'm afraid. You can't claim from the pub. You might be able to claim on your own household contents insurance though but even this is unlikely. |
