I have never heard of a group plan where the participants are not allowed to cancel their insurance until open enrollment.
You can't make changes to the plan you selected or add optional coverages until open enrollment but there is no group plan that mandates you carry the coverage until the end of the plan year.
You need to contact the HR department (not the company website) to complete the appropriate forms to request cancellation.
One caution, when you cancel the coverage you will not be able to re-enroll until the next open enrollment period or worse, you might even have to prove insurability.
You need to talk to HR before you make this move to find out what your options are if you want to return to the plan at a later date. |

Since your coverage is through and employer/group you must go thought the group or benefit administrator at your HR department. The insurance company can not cancel you. Your employer pays a bulk premium for everyone on the plan, hence they are in charge of telling the insurance company who they are enrolling or dis-enrolling. It is up to them, also, if you can cancel now or not. They make make you wait until open enrollment, or show proof of alternate coverage. |

You probably signed up at hire or "open enrollment" - In some Companies you can only change during the "open enrollment" period.
Your H.R. department will be able to help you. |

Have you spoken to your manager? Your manager should be able to go up the chain to help you. |

You can't cancel the insurance, unless it's open enrollment time, or you have a qualifying event.
You can only change your insurance options once a year on a group policy. Unless you quit. |

If your contributions are paid pre-tax (via a S125 POP) then you are only able to make changes at your annual Open Enrollment (the plan anniversary date). If there is no S125 in place, you can drop your coverage effective the first of the month following the date of submission.
You must go thru HR to do this as there is an a form that must be completed and signed by you to do it. |
