I have insurance payment out of my account on the 7th, can i speak to AA to debit my account another day.?
Basically I have a direct debit going through for my insurance on the 7th, but I won't have any money in my account. I would like to avoid incurring any charges so should i contact AA and ask them to debit my account a week later or should i just cancel the direct debit before it goes through. The only problem is 7th is a saturday so is it going through tomorrow friday or on monday? Help please.
you usually have to give about 5 days notice to change the date of your direct debit with a company in your case it's the AA. so i think you'll be to late to do that if it's due out on the 7th. this is what i would do, go down to the bank and cancel the direct debit and then phone the company and explain what you did and why and ask for them to change the date for the direct debit which they should be happy to do. make sure the new date is for all future direct debits to.
This way you will not incur any charges!
Friday will be fine to cancel direct debit if not due out till Saturday.

the only sure way to avoid charges is to tell the bank to cancel the debit.
The AA will try and collect the monies at a later date so ccall them and explain.

Generally you need to notify them 3 business days before the payment is due. You should call them as soon as possible to see what can be done, or you will be stuck with the extra charges.

Just cancel the direct debit right now, then claim it was a mistake. They will be more relieved that you arn't leaving them.

The honest thing to do would be to contact them and explain. I think it would go through on Monday as dd's are usually next working day. If they refuse to defer the dd then I would cancel it anyway as your bank would likely charge you for rejecting payment, much like a bounced cheque.
