if you get paid with a paycheck and have taxes deducted, then the boss should also be paying into the unemployment system - you have toi be working at least 5 full calendar quarters at all jobs before you would have enough credit weeks to qualify. Although since you only work part time, you benefit would be pretty small - maybe not even $80 per week - look for full time work or a second part time job if possible - Unemplyment benefits are also taxable income

Collecting unemployment has nothing to do with health insurance coverage, if that's what you're asking.

If they take out taxes, they take out for unemployment. Eligibility is another question. Unemployment benefits are usually received from money paid in during employment from last year.

It depends on why you get laid off/fired, and how long you've been working there.

Pandas4me
The last 2 that answered are correct. Insurance has nothing to do with unemployment. Your spelling is incorrect to, it's "if I get laid off" not "if I get lay off".

You need to check the employment insurance regulations for your area. Chances are you can get something, but it might not be a huge amount of cash. You also have to be employed for a period of time in order to qualify for benefits.

Where are you located? Isn't there a government site you can check?

That depends on the state you live in and how many people are employed at your company.

I would think so, check your local state website.
