if you quit the first of the month. your insurance goes by the month not by the day. so you have till the end of the month.
the only way to extend it beyond that is with a cobra waiver. |

I know from personal experience, that how long you are covered under your group insurance after you quit or are fired (unless for gross miconduct), depends on the employer. Sometimes you are covered until the end of the month, sometimes the end of the work week, sometimes only until the day you left.It is their perogative. You will need to check with your employer. You are able to pay for the insurance yourself (COBRA) if the employer group has at least 20 employees. It will cost you more, but the benefits will be the same as the benefits you had with the employer. You can have up to 18 months coverage this way, if you continue to pay the premiums. |

From recent experience, my husband was laid-off permanently because his job was going over seas,(cheaper labor).The very day the lay-off went into effect we lost our health care coverage. To be on the safe side check with your insurance carrier.GOOD LUCK! |

If you leave your job for any reason, you have the option of COBRA -meaning you pay the premium for your plan in full. If you do not select this option, in many cases, your insurance ends the day your job does. I have NEVER seen insurance "remaining covered for 30 days" otherwise. |

There is a 30 day grace period that you will still be under your company's insurance plan whether or not you were fired or quit. They give you 30 days to make a decision on what to do with your health benefits. You can either go on COBRA through your company plan or elect individual coverage through an insurance carrier until you get coverage at a new company. |
