You could tell them you had an accident and then get prosecuted for insurance fraud too. Then you could get your knee surgery for free in jail. |

Making a false statement on an insurance application is fraud. If, within a few months of obtaining coverage, you go into the hospital for surgery, the insurance company will investigate your medical records. Your doctor will have to tell them that he advised the surgery on the date that you initially saw him. This will disqualify you due to the pre-existing condition. They have the right to decline coverage for the injury, cancel your insurance coverage and/or prosecute you for insurance fraud.
Use your head and be truthful. If you do not have coverage and are in need of surgery, you will be responsible for the cost of the surgery. Insurance is for unknown future risk, not for a known, planned procedure to correct an existing problem. |

No, they will get your medical records and find out you lied on your application and cancel your insurance and return the premiums. You can't wreck a car and then purchase insurance to fix it, it just doesn't work. You can purchase the insurance and tell them about it, and if you can go without treatment for two years, then it will be covered. |

Your best bet is to go overseas to have the surgery. There are a number of top-notch hospitals in Thailand and India who do all sorts of procedures for fractions of what it would cost in the US or other Western nations.

Well, a doctor has ALREADY told you you need knee surgery, right? So if you don't thell them about the knee so they take you, they WILL find out through medical databases - and not pay.
So I don't think it's going to matter either way. I don't see them paying. |

You won't be able to get insurance to cover anything pre-existing.....did you really think they are there to help you? Heck no! They are there to make MONEY and the more they can squeeze from you without covering you the better!
However, this doesn't mean that you are stuck paying full price for that knee surgery, nor should you have to wait to get it done!
