I need help paying my hospital bill?

.I dont have any insurance and i had to go to the hospital I can not pay this bill it is to much for me to pay . Please help me pay my bill I need to know if the goverment can help me pay this bill .I dont get any help from the state and iam a single mother that is married but seaperated can the goverment help me in any way please tell me ASAP .The bill is $6,995

depending what state you're in...you could call medicare or in other words the welfare office. the hospital billing department should be able to lead you in the right direction...maybe even give you a phone number. good luck

Apply for medicaid.
They should be able to help you with it. Go to your local health department and talk to a social worker over there.

Just dont pay it what are they gonna do dont you have government midicare I mean even illegals get medicare you should qualify for a single mother.

Talk to a social worker at the hospital. They may be able to work out a payment plan for you.

Get on Medicaid right away. Medicaid will cover medical bills for three months back from your original filing date. Medicaid has income restrictions -- like in Florida, you have to make less than $2450/month to qualify for full medicaid benefits and food stamps -- but that's before taxes, not after, which I think is crap, but there it is.

There is also a type of medicaid that is called shared cost medicaid, that would cover your daughter fully, but cover you partially, like after you pay $1500, let's say, Medicaid will pick up the rest.

If you find that you almost qualify but not quite, ask your boss to drop your hours by five or ten hours a week to ensure you qualify for assistance -- that six months may be all you need to rally and make a financial comeback. Also if your baby is under the age of five, you may qualify for WIC, which provides milk, cereal, eggs, cheese, juice, etc. You can get this in conjunction with Medicaid and it really helps.

On another note, if you don't qualify for M'caid, or only qualify for a certain portion of it, the Fair Debt Collection Act of 1974 says specifically, as long as you're paying a minimum of 5% of the total medical bill, they can't take any legal action against you. This info will help to soften the blow to you if you qualify for shared cost medicaid and find yourself still stuck with a rather large hospital bill.

The doctors are excellent, the medical care is top notch, your prescriptions are covered, and you will get a choice of several "health plans" to choose from that will give you extra benefits on top of what M'caid does. Like . . . M'caid will pay for one vision test and set of glasses per year, but HealthEase, let's say, will pay for an additional set. M'Caid will pay for two fillings a year, but Staywell will pay for six . . . things like that.

Take care and don't stress; you probably qualify for M'caid and in most states, you can apply online. And remember, YOUR taxes pay for M'caid too.

Most hospitals have "budgets" set for write-offs for indigent patients. What this means is that you can contact their billing department & tell them about your situation. They may write off the whole amount. Or they may reduce the balance or make payment arrangements for the balance. You can usually negotiate the payments to a very reasonable rate, like $5-$20 per month. Government help may depend on your state or county so contact your local offices. I've had ten of thousands of dollars written off in hospital bills by just calling them & explaining my financial situation.

Please contact the hospital and see if you are eligible for charity care. I don't know about the govt. helping you but hospitals often have funds they can use or they write it off. Good luck my dear.
