Usually the school will have an option to give you health insurance if not, and if you are in the Pacific coast you could try Kaiser Permanente.

Insure Man
You can look at health insurance plan with United Healthcare and Aetna. They both offer affordable catastrophic plans for around $50 a month.

There's a very good article at eHow that discusses how to get health insurance for you and your family when you don't have a job that covers you:

http://www.ehow.com/how_2367563_keep-health-insurance-lose-job.html
How to Get Health Insurance

Take a look at it, as it covers all the major possibilities for getting insurance, and gives some great resources you can use.

If money is a big issue (and when isn't it?), you can also look here for tips on earning some extra cash online:

First of all, you’ll want to see if there are any health insurance options available through your school. Most colleges and universities sponsor a group health insurance plan that is often affordable and guarantees students won’t be turned down for coverage based on their medical histories.

If you’re not taking enough credits to qualify for your school’s plan or it’s too expensive, you may want to consider an individually purchased health insurance plan with a higher deductible – which usually means a lower monthly premium. Since you’re young and healthy and only want minimal coverage, this might be a good match. But are you sure you only need minimal coverage? It’s all about hedging your bets: you might choose a high-deductible plan if you think that you’ll visit the doctor so rarely that a high-deductible plan will allow you to pay less annually between your premium and the medical services you actually use. But if you visit the doctor more frequently and take prescription drugs, you might opt for a lower-deductible plan because you would expect to pay your full deductible each year and would want your full coverage kicks in as soon as possible.

Assuming a high-deductible plans is what you’re really after, consider getting one that can be used with a Health Savings Account (HSA). An HSA is like a tax-savings tool that can only be used with qualifying high-deductible health plans. It allows you to save money on a tax-free basis to pay for qualifying medical expenses. Tax-deductible funds from your account can be used to pay for medical bills that apply toward your deductible and funds left in your account can build up from year to year and be invested and saved for the future.

To learn more about your options, talk to a licensed agent who knows the market in your state. Or, visit an online agency like eHealthInsurance.com, where I work. At eHealthInsurance.com you can get free quotes, compare plans and apply for coverage online. We also offer HSAs and can help you understand how they work. You can talk with one of our licensed agents by phone at 1-800-977-8860.

Good luck,

- Amir M, licensed agent

most schools offer a cheap not so great health plan, and also have their own office on campus which is usually also very inexpensive- but your parents could probably still keep you on theirs if you are going full time

You should probably sign up with the health plan from your school. That's going to be cheapest.
