State Farm won't insure general contractors, which is what you would be, and they don't insure demolition contractors, either.
You're going to need to open your local phone book, and look for an independent agent that specializes in construction.
I hope you're braced for it, because the workers comp is going to run you about 25% of payroll, and the liability is going to run you about 25% of receipts for employees, and 20% of receipts for subcontractors. |

I work as an independant agent in Cleveland, and as the others suggested, go to a local agency. Ask your friends if they know any good local agents. AIG and Travellers are not the biggest or the best. Your local agent will be able to tell you what what the best companies fit and will write what you are looking for. I find Zurich to be affordable for workers comp. It all depends on the occ. |

Depending on what state you are in, I would check with an Independent Agent, especially for commercial insurance! They have the resources to quote multiple companies. State Farm only has State Farm! Keep your options open and make sure you give everybody the same info so that you can compare quotes Apples to Apples! |

You need to contact a broker and I would shop around for insurance. Any local office could get you what you need to know. I'm not sure about workman's comp insurance, but your local employement agency could likely tell you all you need to know in that aspect. |

Try this link for quotes and some good info, but you should consider subbing out a percentage of your work. That way the sub has to get their own insurance and pay their own taxes. |

If you want state farm to be your insurance company the I would contact a local agent. Otherwise, there are many other commercial insurance companies. The two largest carriers are AIG and Travelers. |
