I need to purchase private health insurance for my husband and I, where can I look online ???
We have health insurance through my employer which costs me appx $480 per month.....enough of that crap, I'm sure I can get it cheaper by buying it privately! Any good websites?

Nope stay with you employer because they get group coverage. You might try your auto insurance agent they handle more than just auto coverage. Also if you go with something online research it well. You sound like you have an attitude problem with your employer. If I could get coverage for $480 per month I would jump on it in a heart beat. Even for an HMO thats cheap.

I queried Google about your question and one of the top 3 was "Affordable Health Insurance" website.

Hope you find something more reasonable.

Do not try to do this over the internet. It'll take you several days to intelligently compare all the plans available. Also, if you have any pre-existing conditions that might add a rider to the policy or cause you to be declined or if you are out of the height and weight guidelines you won't know until you've applied and gone through the underwriting process.

If you call an independent agent you can get quotes for your particular situation from many of the major companies. It doesn't cost anything to use an agent and you'll find out if you can get something better. However, usually a group policy is much cheaper than an individual policy because the employer picks up a large portion of the premium.

Believe or not I heard SAMS CLUB is offering Health Insurance now. Check this article out and maybe go to their website for the rest of the skinny. http://www.bizjournals.com/nashville/stories/2004/03/08/daily5.html?jst=b_ln_hl

I hope this is of some assistance.

Well, likely you're wrong. If you're both 30 and healthy, it's going to cost you about $300 a month EACH. If you're not healthy, likely no one is going to want to insure you at all, or they'll exclude all coverage related to whatever is wrong with you. AND, you won't find any maternity benefits on a private policy, if you're interested.

BUT, going online is the WRONG place, because each state has it's own requirements - so sorting through the 300 different plans Blue Cross has is going to be a pain in the neck. You want to get prices from a local agent, who knows who has a lot of local providers in your area.

Find a local agent, get your quotes, and just for yucks, please email me back with how much MORE it's going to cost to get coverage on your own.

Good luck, and have fun.
