that a BIG downpayment. do you have a lot of points on your record? are you young? call an independent agent adn get some quotes. they have a lot of companies they can check with |

Try some other ins companies. Many offer better deals than that. But, dont wait too long. A lot of ins companies dont want you if you havent had ins for more than 30 days. |

They will pair you up with an independant that can help you. an independant can shop rates through companies that do NOT sell direct to the public. They most certianly will be able to find a rate that is fair. 900 down is rediculous no matter what your record is like. |

Shop around is the best advice. Hopefully you're not in Detroit, or Miami. Insurers use different underwriting guidelines and have vastly different rates between counties, and rating territories. That does sound a bit high, but it depends on the type of vehicle, your driving record, location of the vehicle and your useage.

Talk to somebody else, I don't know how bad is your record, but $900 dollars is expensive, Do you know if that is for the whole year? or that is just a broker fee to get you started? Any way you should shop around for a better deal. 100 to 150 is the norm for a broker fee. |

Sure, get rid of your current car, and pay cash for one, and only carry liability coverage on it. It will make your insurance much cheaper.
If you can't afford the insurance payments on your car, then you can't afford your car. Downgrade the car, to downgrade the insurance, and save money on BOTH. |
