~~When it is written out to you and your Dad, then it is available for cashing or depositing. If they would have required a shop to be mandatory, they would have also included their name on the payee line.
You would not be committing any fraud for cashing it. They are definitely leaving the repair up to your discretion.~~ |

The check is yours to fix your car with however you see fit.
You don't have to take it to a body shop and if your Dad can fix the damage instead that is perfectly ok.
If you want to be on the safe side keep all receipts for the parts you purchase and whatever is left can be Dad's wages for putting the car back together.
The insurance company sent the check to you and it is yours.

The money is yours. You can choose to fix your car or not fix your car. The insurance company does not care. They paid you for your damages and that is all they care about.
As long as your dad is ok with your cashing the check, its ok.
Go to your bank and cash it so you do not have any fees to cash it. |

After you complete repairs advise your broker or adjuster so there is no problem with your insurance coverage. |

cash the check at any bank or grocery store with whom you have a check cashing acount. talk to your dad about it first, and come to an agreement as to where the money should be kept and how spent. |
