but the procedure couldn't be done because of how my body is built, my obgyn tried but was unsuccessful...my insurance has already paid, should I call the insruance company and let them know or just leave it as it is. The full amount was covered by my insurance which was the procedure itself $300, the medicine $120 and something else which was close to $200. I understand the medicine is probably charged because it was ready to be used and it went to wate but how about the others? So should I call my isurance company? |

Just because the procedure wasn't successful, doesn't mean the doctor won't bill for it. He will, and the amount will be due.
So either you, or the insurance company, will have to pay for the unsuccessful attempt. |

You should let them know. It might be billed only partially. If your doctor submitted for the full amount, they would be committing fraud. |

The OB tried to complete the procedure? Then why shouldn't she be paid for it? That is like saying a OB that delivers a stillborn baby should only get a partial payment because they did not deliver an alive baby. She is charging for her services, which were rendered. |

You can call your insurance company, but because the procedure was attempted it still had to be charged. However, it shouldn't have been charged at full rate, so you might want to start with your ob/gyn first. I would call the office and ask to speak to the billing department and explain the situation. If their answer is not satisfactory to you then I would call the insurance company as this could be a case of insurance fraud. |
