I think our house insurance is expensive, want to change using comparison site England what is important to?
if i use a comparison site to change our house insurance what is a good way to do this, the main reason being to try to cut down on our monthly out goings

i am a bit confused but would like to be covered for theft, fire, flooding and also for vandalism and if the roof falls off in the wind so would this be fully comprehensive we are up the top of a hill but seeing the devistation that the floods cause i thik it wise to get covered for this what do you think

what else is important

we bought the house for £120,000 three years ago and at the time i was ill so just took the insurance lloyds tsb sold to save stress, but feel a bit wiser now

i have had insurance obviously since we bought the house 3 years ago but due to illness havent been able to be bothered to change just for the reason of wanting a cheaper one,

but i feel ready to do this now

thanks for your help

i am ot too bright so please explain the best way to do this simply

thanks for your help

Try U Switch or Gocompare.
Apparently you just click on the boxes to indicate what level of cover you require and it give you a quote.

They will ask all the questions they need to know. There are really two standards of cover. Don't pick and change. Either go for the standard or trade up to the accidental damage.
The easiest way to save money (in the UK) is to put the buildings and contents with the one insurer. They give discounts. When you get a price go to your existing insurers and tell them that you find them expensive. Let them see what you have and see if they match it. In many cases they will. They can also give additional discounts for higher excesses etc. Try 'em ... you will be surprised. if they don't agree you just move to the cheaper quote you have. And ALWAYS go with a company that is a member of the Association of British Insurers as they will have similar policy terms.

The One
If your area is not know to flooding or you dont live near a river then why get flood insurance and think hard about what your contents come to because it never really comes to what they insure you for so you can go for min contents insurance. Its all ways you can save money,Good luck

Try Calling around UK insurers...They will help you get the quote you need, for the cover you need.

vic,

Comparing insurers is the way to go to get the best deal. Try going to
http://www.best-online-insurance.co.uk/home-insurance.html
They have a number of insurers listed side by side so you can shoose the one that gives you the best deal. There is also a page that explains things you can do to get cheaper house insurance. Compare insurance comapnies once a year to make sure you are continually getting the best price. A few hours on the net is worth quite a bit of cash saved.

Good luck

Nigel.

Personally speaking I would go to an insurance broker and ask them to find a policy!

They are insurance professionals have to be trained in insurance and havea range of policies and can select the one most appropriate to your needs.

Far better to tell someone what you want and let them provide it rather than spend hours going through websites not knowing what cover is available and probably not understanding terms and conditions that are imposed.

We who acts as his own insurance broker has a fool for a client.
