Call a local agent. The policies available depend on where you live. An experienced agent can narrow down your options to one that best fits your needs in just a few minutes. Avoid the online shopping, there is just simply too much information, and too many scams to watch out for.

Age 32. The costs depends on your gender. Male health insurance is less expensive than a female (sexist but true). Are you looking for a full health insurance coverage that includes doctor visits and hospitalization? If you're rarely ill, and money is tight, you may want to consider a major medical policy: one that will cover mostly hospitalization. Then you're responsible for deductibles and co-pays and paying for your own doctor visits.
If you're female and don't plan to get pregnant (and you're looking for a total health insurance plan) be sure your agent knows that. It means pregnancy won't be covered, however, it may cover new baby care.
If you choose just a major medical, consider adding to it a short term disability policy (and long term if possible), an accident policy and a life insurance policy. |

Find an insurance broker that does business in your state. A good broker can show you every plan that's available, help you with the application process, and help you down the road as well.
They cost nothing to use (as they're paid by the insurance company) and since insurance is regulated they give you the carrier direct rates.
You can also look on my site for information, application tidbits, and in some cases and states you'll find pricing info from different carriers. |
