You would need expatriate medical insurance - this can be arranged in the UK through a broker. But it will have to wait until the new year now I think. - YOu could call +44 1207 509446 to get a quote. |

What kind of insurance? Travel insurance? Home insurance? Car insurance? Life insurance? If you mean health insurance, the state provides health care here. |

Assuming that you are legally in the UK (ie, you are either from an EU country, or have successfully applied for imigration, or been granted asylum), you will have little problem getting insurance (though it may be more expensive until you've been in the country for 5 years.)
What I would recommend, however, is that you check the term and conditions of Internet insurance sites VERY carefully - some of the biggest have a term that "you have been in the UK for at least 5 years". If you go ahead and buy that insurance policy (which includes clicking a button to say you've read their terms and agree with them), they won't bother checking... until you make a claim, at which point they'll refuse to pay out on the basis that you made a false application!
You should find that an independent financial adviser would be able to help.
