Mr.Answers
You can most likely call and talk to your own house or car insurance, as for many insurance company's deal in many different insurances! then what you get covered for at your own insurance company!

I know you would have to have liability insurance to cover any property you may accidently break or damaged and an insurance to protect you from lawsuits! because we live in a world of sue crazy people today, and you'd want an insurance for yourself if you get hurt on the job and can't work for a while!

And you'd want to get insurance on the equipment you use, in case someone was to accidently break into your car and steal it all! when owning your own business you will want to cover yourself for everything in your business and to not leave anything unprotected now days, and once you get your business going good, I believe its 6 months, you can purchase a new cargo van for your business and use it as a business tax right off!

Hi

You will need Public Liability Insurance to make sure that if anything goes wrong whilst you are working etc then you will be covered against any damages which are being claimed against you.
I know of this company through previous experience, they are quite local to me, cheap and reliable.
Their Website is http://www.oakland-insurance.co.uk

Standard is liability, if you have equipment that you are hauling around you should also buy a small inland marine policy (for equipment and supplies), if you set up an office you should buy some property insurance for your office materials/equipment and supplies being stored there, if you hire anybody to work for you buy work comp, clients would feel better if you have some theft coverage and you should title the vehicle you are using to the new corporation you are buying and purchase commercial auto coverage, if you don't do that buy hired and non-owned auto along with your general liability.

That's what I can think of off the top of my head.

you need liability insurance as well as insurance for any equipment that you own.
if you lease or buy any vehicles inthe biz you need business insurance.
if you have employees you might need workers compensaton
and disability insurance
different states vary on the last 2
check on the web... many sites to geta quote quickly.. the insurance may be a bit pricey...

welcome news
There are no insurance that you 'need' i.e. required by law unless you employ anyone. I would suggest the following as desirable:

Public Liability insurance: covers your liability to people for injury or damage - the policy may NOT cover the actual cleaning itself e.g. if you accidentally knocked over a vase you would be covered but if you damaged the vase when dusting it you would not be.
Professional Indemnity (E&O) to cover the above
If you have equipment then you should consider insuring that.

Make sure that your car insurance covers business use if you use a car to drive to houses. If using a van then 'own goods' use should be adequate. If you have tools then they may need covering in the van - this may be available under the liability policy, as an extension to the equipment insurance or you could take out a Goods in Transit Policy!

Then consider yourself - if going self employed you will have no income if not working so consider:

Personal Accident and Sickness Insurance - up to 1 year illness cover
Permanent health Insurance - long stay sickness
Private Medical Insurance - get into hospital quicker
If you have a mortgage consider MPPI - make sure self employed can be covered under it.

If you have dependents then life insurance should also be considered.

If you can't afford all the insurance you need, you need all the insurance you can afford.
