Medical insurance is a commodity -- you'll get similar prices
for similar coverages no matter what company you choose.
To reduce your total cost significantly and still get comprehensive
coverage, I suggest a combination of (very) high
deductible PPO/HSA plan with My Simple Card.
You get dental included which is pretty good too. |

Blue Cross Blue Shield is pretty good - I would get a PPO not an HMO |

May be Blue Cross Blue Shield. I found interesting information about your answer here. http://all-insurance-online.blogspot.com/2007/08/health-insurance.html
Good luck! |

Depending on your state... BC&BS is good... but if you need help with the details go to your local insurance agent, probably where you get your car's and ask them for help in your quest... |

United Healthcare is good too as long as they don't write it through Golden Rule.
Pacific Life is another company that I have had before for medical insurance and I never had any problems.
Of course, BCBS is the #1 choice of most. |

As a Blue Cross and Blue Shield broker in Arizona, obviously I agree with the others that have suggested Blue Cross.
Use Yahoo search and type in your state and Blue Cross. The website will have a complete explanation of all plans offered in your state, prices, and the ability to apply if you choose.
My suggestion would be to strongly consider the HSA, (Health Savings Account,) qualified plans. The premium is lower than other plans, the deductible higher. The tax advantages of this type of plan are great, and give you the ability to hold onto more of your money in a special savings account rather than the insurance company. Preventive care will also be covered without having to meet the high deductible first most likely. You will also save money because of the negotiated rates between Blue Cross and the medical providers in your state. |
