Which policy(plan) it is, whether money back/endowment or any other type is to be known. Some policies have guaranteed surrender value.
Any how if you take the original policy document to the servicing branch, you can get the information immediately.

Actually, you find this information itself. Look at the table of contents, should be just inside the first page. Under the headings, look for surrender value. Turn to that page. You said your parents have had this for nine years, look up nine on the left side of the page and then look across in the column that says surrender value. This will be listed in the Guaranteed Column, don't look in the Non-Guaranteed or Illustrated column. Hope this helps. Just be aware that if you take the loan and don not pay it back, the death benefit will be reduced by the amount that is not paid back. 100k face value, take loan for 10k and never pay it back 100k reduced to 90k death benfit, maybe even some extra fees. |
