Report him to your state insurance department - they have a fraud unit.
You MIGHT want to consider calling the DA's office, too.
ps, if he's dishonest, he's dishonest. Sooner or later he's going to screw you over, too. So I'd ALSO look for a new job. Don't want to go down with THAT ship!! |

Anonymously, write letters to ins co's he''s defrauding.
To make it credible, list car. year,. model, licese plate #, name of owner, and what e'd doing.
The ins co's will take it from there. Ins fraud is very serious. Of course, the shop may close down and you'll have to find another job. However, can you continue to put up with this crap?? |

Make an anonymous call to the commission or whoever it is that controls this stuff. Don't forget to block your number so they don't be able to track you, or so he can't find out it was you.
Or you could call from a pay phone.
Other than that, I don't know what you could do, except quit, so you don't have to witness this every day!!! |

Get a new job. There is no telling the kind of repercussions you could have being a whistleblower.
Find a new job. What comes around goes around. He will get his. Of course, you can speed up the process by collecting hard evidence and sending it to the insurance companies and the car owners. Let the customers blow the whistle, leaving you out of it. |

Quit. I have a family member who used to work for an insurance company with a boss similar to this. Except he'd say people were insured when they weren't and keep the money. My family member ended up taking the fall for him and his business. They got put on probation for ten years and fired to boot. Quit while you can.
Other than quit, I don't know what else you can do. Maybe notify the state? |

You are right, you cannot go over his head as he is the owner. However, you can go to your local district attorney or state attorney general. Where I live, those guys are extremely serious about crimes like that, and they usually land on people who are scammers with both feet.
If you don't live in the US, then simply do some discreet checking around and find out who the main legal enforcement officer is for your area. That's who you want to inform.
I imagine you will need to go in and discuss it with someone and give a formal statement. Let them know that you are still employed there and you do not wish to lose your job, and I imagine they will protect your identity.
Guys like that are really creating problems that ripple through society. When he charges a bit more on an insurance claim, that cost gets passed on to every consumer in the form of higher premiums. That's just not right. And when people think they are getting their car repaired, they should actually get it repaired.

Your job is on the line...but you need it! However, their are "whistle blower" laws that will protect you.
1. find out who he has defrauded. (name of the company)
2. Call their Claims dpet ask for the fraud unit. ( they will keep your name anonymous to protect you)
3. get specifics (documentation of the claim(s) you are mentioning.
4. Let the insurance claim dept do the rest. They will report your boss tto the District Attorney and BBB.
5. He may fold his business and get charged and you may be unemployed but at least you can sleep at night.
Start looking for other employment today. |

Call the insurance commissioner and report him....you can also call the insurance companies he is defrauding...I am sure they would be interested to know this and will start their own investigation....
make sure you call from a blocked number of pay phone though if you do not want to be found out ...otherwise who cares? The guy will be behind bars soon if he is doing what you say....

Depends how much of an honest person you are and if you like somebody taking your hard earned money. I dont. Maybe your afraid theyll shut the place down and youll be out of a job more than anything. Hell buy it when he loses it. Just report it to the better business bureau but plant a camera first. you can do it. Suck it up. |
