Completely depends where you live and why you are buying it. In most cases, for children, I recommend that people go with a Limited Pay Life Insurance policy. You pay on it for a specific period of time and then it's paid up. Most of the time they go with the 20 Pay, so when the child is around 20 or so, they will never have to pay for the life insurance policy, but they'll have it forever.
You're best bet is to contact an insurance broker in your area and they can go over your options. If you're in Canada, email me and I can recommend someone in your area. |

Well, even in India, I wouldn't recommend child life insurance. "Scheme" is the word that comes to mind, it's NOT a good investment.
Set the goal first, THEN select the product. And, if India has an insurance board, post there. |

A child rider on an existing policy. Pure insurance is all you need. If you are looking for savings for education, get an education account for them. It will earn a higher rate of return. |

You can either get a limited payment life insurance policy for him coz premiums will be cheaper at his young age, and the coverage is for life but if you want a higher returns , you may want to consider investment-linked policy?
