Typically, insurance rates will vary from State to State and can even vary by ZIPCODE! It also will depend on the type of car/truck, coverages, limits of liability, and driving record. Some companies run credit scorees and MOST run a motor vehicel report and CLUE (Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange) report to see about undisclosed accident involvement.

The best thing to do is call a LOCAL independent agent, after you turn 18. Don't go across town, or to some other city - look for someone CLOSE. Just look in the phone book for the PIA or Big I (Trusted Choice) logos and you will find a professional licensed agent that will be able to help you solve your insurance problems, and give you rate comparisons of several different companies. Be sure to ask them if they have someone that specializes in youthful operators.

An independent insurance agent will normally have a dozen different companies and if he cannot help you, he should be networked with other local agents that can.

At any rate, you would probably come out cheaper by being insured on your parents' policy. When do you turn 18? Since you are only 17, you cannot sign an insurance application since you are not old enough to sign a contract - and, an insurance policy IS a contract between you and the insurance company.

Most of the replies on this site will either say "go to this on-line carrier or that on-line carrier or that 1-800 number" but I'm sure that when you do, you will find some impersonal computer user with a script to work from and you won't be able to talk with the same person every time you have a problem! Others on this site will just type a bunch of junk, just to hear their keyboard clicking and to see their name in print!

Good luck, drive RESPONSIBLY and I hope this helps

Hi, auto insurance rates depend on many factors, including:

- driver's record and number of accidents
- location of vehicle (city, state)
- where vehicle is parked at night (garage or outdoors)
- driving record of other people in the household
- insurance company rates for all the above factors

Without knowing such information, it would be impossible for anyone to give you a ballpark figure. Best way to find out is to call an insurance agent that works with several insurance companies and ask for a quote.

Where, for what kind of car? If you buy a car worth about $2,000 it will be less than if you buy a $25,000 car.

Figure, minimum is probably going to be $6,000 a year, up to maybe $20,000 a year.

that guy said $50-$100
he is nuts, $50.00 a month for a 17 year old not likely, neither is $100.00.
just figure 200.00ish, could be higher, could be lower based on about 25 different factors.

You can get a ballpark or a pretty accurate estimate here: http://www.cashrealm.info/autoinsurancequotesy.php no need to guess...
