Tell your parents now. Get it over with and get on with your life. All you're going to do by not telling them now is stress about the moment when they're going to find out or when your conditions worsens and you have to tell them. Get the hard part out of the way ASAP.
If you really can not speak with your parents about this, then trying going to a free clinic for while just to get you through the shock of it all. At the same time, you have to find someone else to talk to about this. Do not lock it up inside and pretend like because the doctors can fix it then everything is alright. The worse thing you can do to yourself mentally is pretend like everything is okay when it's not. |

They will if they can understand the codes! Most insurance company's send a explanation of benefits with a diagnosis code. |

No. If you have an HMO plan, they won't even know you went to the doctor. If it's a PPO, they'll find out you went, but they won't find out WHY. |

Before attempting to answer this question, I wanted to find out a little more about you. I had hoped I could get a feel for your age, interests, etc. by looking at your previous questions, answers, etc. What I found was that you keep everything private! Is that part of your personality?
I'm making the assumption that you are a young female. I base that on your avatar. If that is correct then you should open up a little to your parents. If they are even remotely typical, they love you and want what is best for you. They might be disappointed by your actions, but they won't stop loving you. They would have more respect for you and see this as a step toward your maturity.
Now to answer the question. No, they probably won't find out--at least not from the insurance company. Explanation of Benefits (EOB) only show what was billed for, such as an office visit or lab work. They NEVER show a diagnosis. That would violate HIPAA (Heath Insurance Portability and Accountability Act).
And to some of the people who have already attempted to answer this question, I have a question for you. Why are encouraging a (presumably) young lady to lie and deceive her parents? Tell this this, tell them that. Tell them anything BUT the truth. Shame on you! |

They will know you went to the doctor on a certain date. They will NOT know the diagnosis. If there were any tests done, those will show up on the bill - but usually as "diagnostic testing". Your parents can ask why you went to the doctor, but unless YOU tell them (if they're really on your back, tell 'em it was a UTI to get 'em to leave you alone.) they can not find out anything specific. That's because of the HIPAA privacy laws - and in most states, even if you're under 18, your parents don't need to know. Since you're over 18, you have to give them written authorization to have any access to your information. |

They will get a noticed sent to them about the doctor billing the insurance company. It won't say what you went for, though. Another option is to go to planned parenthood or something. |

yes they will get the itemized bill in the mail. |

no the wont wont find out....everything is kept confidential and if they find out because the doctor told them you can sew them......it wont come out on the insurance either....its only in your records that only you are allowed to see. |

NO, not unless your parents are nosey and call the Dr's office and ask. If you are over 18, they can not give them the info. Your parents will now know just by the invoice they get though. It will just show up as lab tests ot lab work. |

They shouldn't it would be a HIPPA violation. However, if you are going for something other than a normal check-up which I'm assuming you are, it may be a good idea to reach out to a planned parenthood or other "free" facility for young women. |

Yes, they will eventually know that you went to the doctor. I usually recieve a copy of the claim that the Dr. submitted to the Ins Co within a month. Unless your parents are in the medical field then they should not find out what it is that you were tested for or diagnosed with. If your parents call the Dr to try to inquire they should not tell them BUT depending on the inicial forms that are filled with the Dr. and your age the Dr might have a right to tell your parents. You should call the Dr's office to inquire about your rights and if possible request that they do not tell that info to your parents. You should tell them that you went because you didn't feel well but the doc gave you samples for _________ and you feel much better. |

No, but the visit will be on there. If the doctor or insurance company tells them the nature of your business then (after you have been yelled at by your parents) can legally sue them, which will make you feel better.
You still have doctor/patient confidentiality. Talk to your doctor if it makes you nervous he WILL understand, don't worry about that. |

NO they def. will not. Your privacy between the doctor is exactly that..between you and your dr. If I were you, I'd just let your parents know that you had a yeast infection or something like that so they won't be surprised that you went. |
