who can I put on it? My kids and hubby I'd assume at least that is what is allowed at my BIL's work but I also have a step-daughter can I put her on it too or not since she is not my biological child. It would seem like a waste of money for me to have free insurance and for him to have to pay for insurance for her separately through his work when she would be the only one on it. I haven't been hired yet otherwise I would ask the company or insurance. It's a health care job if that makes a difference. Thanks. Additional Details IT'S FREE THROUGH THE COMPANY MEANING I don't pay anything. It's isn't taken out of my check every week it's one of the incentives of the job. There will be copays of course but I don't actually pay anything for the insurance.
Wow, must be a government or union job, I don't know ANYONE where the employer picks up 100%, except a few school districts.
Anyway. You can put your spouse, and your legal dependents. If you guys claim your stepdaughter on your taxes, you can add her.

I recommend discussing your health insurance with your husband. The majority of companies will offer many different health plans for their employees like you. Of course nothing is free and sometimes the health insurance requires a deduction of your paycheck every two weeks depending on the type of medical plan you select.
If you want to add your children including your step daughter, the health insurance will cover you but if you add your children to your plan then of course than you will be paying more fees off your paycheck to cover them. I recommend looking at the health insurance plans that your company provides and compare that with your husband health insurance. Decide which health insurance plans (either yours or your husband) would cost less to add your children.

Yes, you will be able to put your step-daughter on the plan. Group policies consider step-children as part of the family.

You should be able to put dependants on there with no problem. just make sure that you ask ALOT of questions. At my last job, I had some back problems. I paid my co-pay amounts as directed and after I got laid off, I found out that the company had horrible insurance that didn't pay the claims like they were supposed to. I am now getting bills up the butt!!! Lots of companies skimp bigtime on insurance these days... so just ask questions and make sure you get good answers!

Generally, if she is your dependant (she lives with you) you can put her on.
