If I get insurance with either Allstate or State Farm online, will I need to show prove that I'm married?
I am planning in getting insurance with either of the two insurances mentioned and I am aware that if I decide to say that I am married my rate will be lower; my concern is if they will ask for some form of prove that I am married? Which I am not. A friend of mine did it with a cheaper insurance and he was never asked to show proof so I'm wondering is Allstate or State Farm will ask me for any? Thanks. Additional Details YES CAR INSURANCE
Sometimes it also depends on how old you are. Usually if you are over 25 the discount is the same. Since I work for an insurance company, I can tell you that insurance fraud is a felony and you sould not lie and tell them you are married unles you are. If they find out you lied, the cost will be higher for you then if you just told the truth.

If this is car insurance, they will ask for your spouse's driver's license number (married couples get joint auto insurance policies, not separate ones).

You are asking if it it OK to lie. Maybe you'll get away with it. But if you ever have an accident and the truth comes out, the companies could deny to cover your losses as you obtained the policy under a false pretense.

No, they don't. They don't need to.
Because you have to list your spouse as a driver, and when they run the mvr check on all the operators - including the spouse - it will show her legal address, which should be yours.
