If I include my daughter on my auto insurance if she getst into an accident with her car ?
If I include my daughter on my auto insurance if she getst into an accident with her car and the car is included on my policy too, would my insurance price go up for me or only for her car?

MoniqueLise
I'm not sure I agree with your other answers.

The insurance overall will go up, but for your daughter -- not for you. The insurance on her vehicle and her driver insurance will go up, because of the claim.

Your vehicle and driver insurance should continue to be rated as someone who has not made a claim and has not had an accident.

This is what happened when I was in an accident and my husband and I shared a policy.

i8t would go up if u put her on ur policy

It would go up if you make a claim. If you are on the same policy, you and your daughter and both your cars are considered as far as rates go to be a single entity.

That's the whole rub with young drivers. Make her pay for her own insurance. My son did from the first payment forever. Thank the good Lord since he backed into three different cars on three different occassions in the first two years of driving.

Take a look at this http://sirlook.com/hl03u article i found it should answer your question and also has some good information on car insurance and finding good deals etc.

. Your question is not proper. You say " you want to include your daughter on your auto insurance". and at the same time you say "if she gets into an accident on her car" These are TWO different statements. However kindly note that an Auto Insurance is an insurance cover of the Vehicle where the value of the vehicle is based on its age and is covered for any accident to the third party, theft, fire, damages to the driver and co- passengers and the insured vehicle as per terms of insurance asked for, by the Insurer. Consequently you cannot Include your daughter in your auto insurance. On the other hand if your daughter has a valid driving license and you have declared that besides you, your daughter will also be running the car, then if she meets with any accident then the insurance company is liable to meet the accident claims. The question of Insurance price going up for you or for your daughter does not arise . VASUSESHA .

Your policy would go up. Your insurance bill includes both cars doesn't it? The whole policy would go up, but if you took her off the insurance it would go back down.

If you have more than one car the rate for the car your daughter will be the only one to go up. The premiums are detemined by the driver of the specific car. Yours will not change. If you only have one car the rate will be based on the highest rated driver.

It depends on where you live and your state rules. Usually your agent can tell you. Typcially, you'd lose your loss free discount, and possibly be "downrated" for several years, in addition to your daughter receiving a surcharge.

Some states divide the surcharge between all the cars, some only apply it to the vehicle which she primarily drives - that's why you'll have to ask your agent.

bundysmom
It will go up for her.
