If I start paying for life insurance now & I die in 6 months (i'm perfectly healthy), does insurance pay off?

under a normal death the payout would be made to your beneficiary. There is a legal contract between you and the insurance company. As for reasons they wouldn't look at exclusions. Suicide clause excetera. Hope that helps.

The stipulations are written in your contract so you'll have to read it. Most will have clauses as to what's covered and what's not... ie suicide and certain terms and conditions with every policy being different. Pricewise and valuewise, look into term insurance. It's cheaper and the difference in payments will let you contribute money of our own into your own long term savings/401K or other vehicle that can end up earning you more and costing you less than other kinds of insurance, especially if you are younger.

Under 2 years, your policy is considered "contestable" which means that they investigate your. They call your doctors, friends, family.. to make sure that you were not "sick" before you passed. I once had a claim that was under investigation for 1 year!. If everything passes then yes they pay.

If its over the 2 years, they don't even questions!

Maybe. Some policies, the "guaranteed issue" ones, you know, with no medical exam, say you have to live at least two years for them to pay out.

Standard policies, have a clause in it, that if you die within the first two years, they will review your medical records and application to see if you lied on the application - which would void the policy. Even if you "forgot".

But, if you didn't lie on the application, and you don't commit suicide, on a standard policy it would pay out even if you die the day AFTER it goes into force.

they may investigate, especially if the circumstances of the death are suspicious or pay limited benefits

If the policy starts today and you die later today it pays off...UNLESS you kill yourself (you have to wait two years to do that).
