I don't think it would affect your insurance, but it will affect his license. |

It will go up and you could be responsible for any lawsuits resulting from injuries or property damage also. |

I used to think that was the case, but in some states, they are also holding the owner of the vehicle responsible. |

DUI 's are serious and they can cause an increase or even cause cancellation of your coverage under some conditions.
When you lend your car, it is just as if you are the driver because you hold the most important liability, that is ownership of the vehicle. You may have to sue your friend separately in order to recoup damages you incurred as a result of his negligence. I hope that you did not know that he was drunk when you loaned the vehicle because that make you partly responsible for any damage he/she does.
Next time use better judgment.
When people have to borrow or ask for favors concerning cars, cell phones, or co-signing, there is usually a good reason why they don't have the "privilege" themselves.
Most times it is because they have already abused their personal privileges and cannot get those things themselves. Why is it that you can afford a car and your friend cannot? |

Nothing will happen. your friends insurnace will hit the roof. Explain to your agent or broker what happened, they could exclude the driver from the policy however. |

Well, it won't, unless he also gets into an accident.
Of course, your car could be impounded, but that won't affect your INSURANCE.
An accident, well, that's a whole different story. |
