Bad idea.. Courts tend to take this more seriously than driving without road tax.
Put it this way.. say you break too slowly as you aren't paying attention and you smash into the car in front of you.. what are you going to do... drive off? The other driver will ask you for your insurance details and when you do not provide them they may very well call the police. Just because you may offer to provide the other driver with your name/address and telephone number does not mean they will believe you, and they would probably still take down your registration details..
If you do a thorough Internet search with one of those insurance comparison sites you can find a cheap quote even if you just go third party. I've only had my licence for 4 years and am paying £41per month fully comprehensive. My brother who has had like 2 accidents and has 6 points on his licence pays about £70 per month...
Don't chance it... |

No risk.
You'll never be caught.
You're invulnerable.
Cops have better things to do.
You are a prize prat if you drive without insurance and deserve the book to be thrown at you - and I hope it's me doing the throwing! |

Statistically it is cheaper to drive without insurance than with it as the fines (£167.00 on average - which is 25% cheaper than 9 years ago) are substantially less than the cost of insurance.
However I hate the b*****s who do it - shows a lack of morality, selfishness, uncaringness and downright antisocial behaviour.
The problem is: those creeps who drive without insurance have no assets to take away, no job to deduct wages from and, in the remote eventuiality that the car is crushed, just go out and spend a few hundred on a new one - still cheaper than getting insurance.
Until something more suitable is found for punishment - I favour the birch myself - then this drain on reputable driver's insurance policies will continue. I don't think somehow that the Government Antiscoial Behaviour Card will make much difference! |

The risk is that you'll have an accident and injure or kill someone, or cause expensive damage to property which an innocent person will have to pay for.
Uninsured drivers are parasites. (look it up - it's NOT a compliment).
Why? Because they probably have the mental frame of mind that thinks "anything goes as long as I don't get caught".
This means that they're probably unlicensed too. It's likely that they're also 'chancers' who's risk of having an accident is higher than average.
It's a serious tragedy when an unisured driver hits someone. They often run away too.
Generally uninsured drivers don't get penalised anything like enough when they're caught. A few points on a licence won't stop them doing it again.
If they have an accident then the Motor Insurer's Bureau normally pays up for the damage. This is a fund set up specially to compensate the victims of selfish little shites who drive wne uninsured. The cost of this is estimated at about £70 per year being added to every insurance premium paid by law abiding motorists.
Anyone who knows of an uninsured driver, or rides with one, is also guilty of "aiding and abbetting". But the passengers of these gits usually get away with it too.
Personally, I'd crush an uninsured driver's vehicle, without compensation. Tough if they're still in it. |

I got caught doing that once.
You get 6 points, increased insurance preniums for at least 5 years, and the car towed until the car owner gets it back.
If you get 6 points within 2 years of passing your driving test, you get your license revoked and the joy of oding it all over again :) |

A car?
You can get pulled over and pay lofty fines, have your car towed and wind up in court.
or even worse, you could be in an accident where someone gets injured or killed and you can be sued causing your wages to be garnished for the rest of your life |

You will be breaking the law. God help if you kill or injure someone, you will have to pay all the legal and compensation costs. Don't do it. |

It's illegal to drive a car without insurance, plus even though insurance seems pricey in some places it's a LOT cheaper than having to pay out from your own pockets for the results of a crash. Plus you can get a huge fine, not to mention it goes on your criminal records I think. |
