you will definitely not get away with it.
if your going to do that then there is no point in getting insurance as if you make a claim and they find out, your policy would be voided and you may be taken to court for fraud.
after that you will find it very hard to get insurance for anything as you would be considered to high a risk |

If you do that don't bother buying any insurance because it'll be a waste of money. |

No you won't. The registration number will automatically show up exactly what car it is and the size of the engine etc. Don't do it. Big trouble if you do. Also you would not actually be insured. |

No - the registration will be checked against the DVLA database.
Besides, if you have an accident your insurance would be automatically rendered invalid - with potentially costly repercussion for you. |

You won't get away with it. As soon as the number plate is entered into a computer the make and model comes up on the screen. So you don't even have to give this information. |

they will know what it is when you give em the reg plate. also, if you stuff it, they wont pay out. |

No, you won't get away with it because each vehicle is made with a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and you usually need to provide the VIN to get insurance, and the VIN shows what make, model, and year the vehicle is - and removing or altering it is a felony, as is insurance fraud. |

no - it's fraud
the reason the engine size is so important is down to the capability of the car, and your experience as a driver/age
you'll get a big fine if you are ever in an accident - don't do it as you push up my premiums |

No you won't. As soon as you give them the registration plate they can look up the other details of the car automatically. Also, if you do have an accident, you won't be able to claim and will in effect be another of the thousands of uninsured drivers on our roads who make things more expensive for the rest of us. |

I would say no you will not. You must put the exact item on your insurance in rather to receive compensation for it. If not they will consider it fraud and cancel your policy and may deny any future claims.
It is illegal to misrepresent anything on an insurance rather it is greater or less in value. If you have questions than ask your agent if he or she tells you to enter it on there then have them initial it an usually they photograph it that way it comes back on them and you still get paid even if they were wrong.
Also regardless whether you take the plate off they will be able to tell by the vin number they are stored in a national database by the manufacturer once they leave there facility there also other identifying markings such as the top of the engine is also usually stamped.
Your best bet is to pay the little extra carry a policy for six months have no accidents and cover your rear in the future. You definitly do not want to have to cover anyone elses car in case of an accident because of misleading information. Good Luck to you. This stuff is tricky. |

Think about the consequence of saving a few bucks now.
1 Fraud
2 unable to get insurance again
3 criminal record
To name a few..... |

what if someone stole it, or crashed into you???? if any of these happened, then you insurance wouldn't stand and you will find it difficult to get paid out!!! its the same if you modify the car and don't declare them to the insurers....you might as well be another un-insured driver! |

No point paying for insurance if you do,It will be invalid,What if you had an accident and put someone in a wheel chair? How are you going to pay for them Don't do it. |
|

Trust me I'm a Doctor ♥
 |
Your insurance will be invalid if you make a false statement, don't buy the car if you can't afford the insurance. Buy a car with a smaller engine. |

Until you have an accident or pulled by the Police. Then they will discover your insurance in invalid and you'll get a mandatory 6 points on your license and your future premiums will go up. If you have killed or injured someone in an accident and you have no insurance to pay out or if you have previous offences you could even go to prison. Would it not be to your benefit to buy a 1.6 Golf if that is what you can afford? |

The registration number will tell the insurers what model it is so you won't 'get away' with anything. Silly to think that you were smarter than the insurers. |

It really doesnt matter what you tell the insurance company.
Every car has a VIN# (vehicle ID #). As long as the VIN# is correct in their system, it will not affect anything for payout. |

Well - as long as you can be sure you will never have an accident !! If you do and an assesor looks at your vehicle your insurance will be null and void. If its a major accident and its your fault you will be responsible for stumping up the cash to fix the other persons car and you may go to court for driving without insurance.
If cost of insuring the car is a problem then look around for cheaper insurance or at the very least go third party so if you cause an accident you will be in the clear . Check out Tesco's and Kwikfit for cheap insurance.I managed to get my £5000 quote from HSBC down to £2000 three years later and I'm only paying £620 |

As soon as you give the registration number, it will be cross referenced against DVLA database anyway, so they will know how many litres it is.
Moreover, you should never lie to an insurance company. If you do, your claims won't be paid, it's as simple as that. |

If it says on the log book that it is 1.6 it will be fine
but.....
if you crash your car and the insurer sends somebody out to look at your car and they discover its a 2.4 your insurance will be void and you wont be able to claim |
