If i have medicaid, does my baby's father have to pay child support?
Me and my daughter have Medicaid and they want her father's information so they can get child support from him, but he is in our lives, and helps me take care of her. I do not want him to pay child support, but they say they will take away our medicaid if i don't. should i lie about knowing where he works/lives, or just tell them the information?

Since you're asking the rest of working Americans to pay for your child's health care costs, it's fair, at least to those of us paying, that the government should go after her father, to get reimbursement.

He sure doesn't have to pay YOU child support - but he'll have to pay Medicaid. He has to pay towards his child. You want me to pay, for his child, and not him? Where's the logic?

Real men, support their children - physically, emotionally, AND financially. Let him be a man.

If you lie, it is welfare fraud, you could go to jail.

If you live together, then his income is supposed to be considered for medicaid. If the state finds that he could put the daughter on his insurance from work, they will force him to do so. You would then be responsible for your own insurance.

If you are getting other aid, such as checks, rent or food stamps, the child support will mainly go to the state, you will get a part of it.

Reality is what it is. Sorry.

Yeah he has to pay child support. That will be supportive as income for medicaid. Then again why wouldnt he pay child support.

Its a formula that they have to know.

what you are saying is fraud. If the baby daddy is in your life then get proper insurance as they are going to garnish his wages as per federal law

He is "in your lives" but doesn't support his own child? And you're ready to lie to Medicaid to "protect" him? Why?

MSAD
I would not lie to Medicaid. Do you think the only way they have of finding baby daddy is your word? And if you lie - you commit Medicaid fraud. That is a crime. You get caught...you can be prosecuted criminally and baby daddy still ends up paying.

So...tell baby daddy to get a job. And tell the state where he is.

He may be "in your life" but he needs to be financially responsible for his baby as well. As it is - you are asking every other citizen of your state to pay for your baby's well fair. Where do you think Medicaid money comes from? Its from the taxes of your neighbors. Sorry but the neighbors (and Medicaid) have the right to be paid back by baby daddy. Babby Daddy made the baby. Baby Daddy needs to support the baby - financially.
