Bad decision. You need to review your insurance policy closely or ask your agent about insurance coverage. But, you still own the car and could be liable for your friends actions e.g. law suits, costs in excess of insurance coverage. |

Short term use is covered under most plans. Just be sure all the paperwork is in the car just in case! |

Most policies will provide coverage - provided the vehicle is not provided for that persons regular use.
However, not all policies do this. Some do have language that restricts coverage to only those named one the Dec page. Usually you see this type of language in the policies of companies that specialize in high risk drivers.
Your best bet is to call your agent and check with him/her. |

It depends on a number of factors, none of which you have explained here. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. There are ALWAYS exceptions to coverage, so even if one set of factors says yes, another could cancel out that coverage.
You're best off calling your agent and asking them - but if it's going to be more than a week that this person has your car, you should add them as a driver to your policy, and then you don't have to worry.
If they live with you, you should add them anyway. |
