If my daughter is licensed but doesnt have insurance but drives with parents at all times is that legal?

If she is licensed she needs to have insurance whether she drives with you or not. She can be added to your policy.

It depends upon the insurance company you have. If she has an accident it will either be not covered (some "budget" companies will only cover the named drivers) or they'll require you pay up the premium from the day she was licensed.

- No. All motorists must be insured, and the state will see that it collects fees for uninsured motorist fees going back to the lapsed time in her policy.

The state will charge a backfee according to state costs for state insurance (uninsured motorist fee).

Auto insurance companies usually know when a young family member resides in the home, and they attach a rider with the policy stating that the child is not covered on your policy.

If your daughter is over 18, then she is responsible for any damages she may cause by driving without insurance, and will be responsible for state auto insurance (uninsured motorist fee) going back to the day she was awarded her license, or the day her auto policy lapsed (whichever was last)

This is the same as you would have to pay if there were a lapse in your policy.

The best advice is to put her on your policy as an occassional driver (for the lowest rate available).

Of course, your policy and you are covering her by virtue of your consent. What the license to a minor is, is a commitment on the parents part, and the state to allow the child to drive under certain restrictions. If anything, you as the parent is liable for her driving.

Most likely, not. Most policies allow you 30 days to add a newly licensed operator to the policy. Some give you zero days, for household members/relatives.

So if you've gone beyond that time frame, she's driving without insurance. Worst case scenario - she hits a car, your car is totalled, the other car is totalled, and she badly injures someone. You write a check for your car, you write a check for the other car, AND the bodily injuries for the other people. If you can't afford that much, you lose your house and have your wages garnished for the next 20 years.

Add her to the policy. She needs to be insured.

sure...its legal... if she lives at home .. she is automatically covered under the auto policy as a family member

if she lives elsewhere she cannot be listed on the parents policy. if she drives other peoples cars and doesn't own one// she needs to buy a non owned auto liability policy
to protect her assets

It's a question of state law. In many states the law on auto insurance will automatically cover licensed drivers who drive with the permission of the owner. In other states it is left to the terms of the insurance contract. There are also some states which require all drivers to have insurance even if they do not own a vehicle. Talk with a licensed agent in your locality.
