If my uncle left me a watch in his will but it was stolen what do I get?
If the watch was stolen prior to your Uncles' death...you get nothing. But if the watch turns up - it will be given to you.
You can't file a claim for something that was stolen before you ever had legal possession of it.

You get the watch, if whoever stole it gets caught with it and the police bring it back.
Otherwise ... you get nothing.
*Imagine XOXO*
What do I get?
Fond memories of uncle if you have any, What?...
Gambit
Who had possession of the watch when it was stolen? If the watch was in your possession (i.e. the executor has physically given you the watch) when it was stolen then you would be claiming this under your Homeowner's/Tenant's/Condo policy. If the watch was still in the executor's possession or still with the rest of your uncle's effects then you would want to inquire if there was a Homeowner's/Condo/Tenant's policy under the name of the estate of your uncle. If there was the executor can try making a claim under that policy. If not speak to your agent to see what can be done.

You might call the company that handles his homeowners insurance and see if they will let you put in a claim for it. Did he have a personal articles policy that covers jewelry?
Any claim, if possible would be paid to the estate.

Not a dime or penny. A deceased man can't claim against his insurance and the policy will only be payable to your uncle so you'd get nothing but memories.
