. | If someone is under Cobra insurance, will they have problems switching to another insurance? Time penalty? |
If someone is currently under Cobra, and they later decide to cancel that, in exchange for better insurance offered with a new employer, would that be a problem? For example, will they have to wait until the Cobra expires, etc? Thanks |

No penalty. The idea behind COBRA is to allow continuation of coverage until new coverage is available. When you elect COBRA continuation, you are not obligating yourself to remain enrolled until the end of your COBRA benefit period. It is month-to-month. |

No. Cobra is just a way of continuing your coverage under a former employer's group plan by paying the premiums. There is no "Cobra" insurance company. |

Not at all, you can cancel effective the first date your new insurance is effective; if you pre-pay your premiums, you should be entitled to reimbursement of the pro-rata portion of the premium for that month.
Make sure there is no gap in coverage between Cobra and your new insurance, and get a certificate of creditable coverage (basically, evidence that you've been insured for a certain period of time) from your Cobra insurance administrator - your new insurance company may require it to cover any preexisting or chronic conditions.
Cobra is very expensive since there is no employer to offset part of the cost, so if you can switch to employer-sponsored plan you will probably save a lot of money.
By the way, "Cobra" stands for Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act, a 1986 statute that allowed for continuation of health benefits - it is not a company but a law requiring your old insurance company to continue coverage. |

No, you can cancel your Cobra at any time. |

No, Cobra has a time limit anyway |

No, just don't let your insurance lapse and get a form from them stating the dates of your coverage. |

No, Cobra is month to month, for up to 18 months. If a new employer picks up the coverage, they can cancel the COBRA. |
