If you get married out of state, can your parents insurance drop you.?
Is this true? I was not able to find anything on it, and I doubt it is true. I would like to try though.
Additional Details
Well thanks for the answers, I have a child on the way and I want whats best for the child.

Her fathers insurance would be 10x better for my fiance, the child, and the doctor visits. I will leave the marriage pending untill the child is born. Then we will go from there.

Thanks all

Once you're married, your parents' insurance drops you.

But if you're pregnant, your parents' insurance will NOT cover your baby. Which means, if you want coverage for the baby, you're better off being married and added to your husband's policy BEFORE the baby is born. Because what if something's wrong with the baby? Even if it's something little like jaundice, that requires an extra couple days in the hospital - that's $1200 a day that YOU PAY.

If your parents' insurance only covers unmarried children who are minors, then getting married in any State would jeopardize your coverage status. Whether they would discover it before paying a claim or not, I don't know, but in some cases false representations can eliminate coverage for everyone under a policy.

Good luck to you, and congratulations on your pending marriage.

Hans Moleman
Yes. If you're married than you're no longer a dependent of your parents. Their insurance will drop you.

Yes, you are in a different household and out of state.

Once you marry, you are no longer a dependent of your parents, therefore no longer eligible for coverage under their insurance, no matter where you marry or live (even if you are still 19 or under). They may not find out about it immediately, but they would certainly discover it with the very first claim you would make. They have very thorough databases and are not easy to fool. Please don't consider jeopardizing your parents' insurance status. If you can't afford your own, maybe it is a little too soon to get married.

Swaminathan P
it is all on case by case e.g. if you could establish legally that you are solely dependent on parents (even after marriage), say in the case of handicaps, etc., then there are ways to get protected. for more help underwriters can help you. - approach them early
