You'll have to pay it.
Call the medical provider right away if you don't have the money to pay the bill off. Renegotiate the bill as far as price and payment terms. |

You are responsible for the amount of the charges that are not covered by your insurance. Typically, those amounts will be your annual deductible and your co-insurance (generally 80%). You may get a number of different bills from different providers even if your care was at one hospital. You might receive a separate hospital bill, a separate radiologist bill etc.
Wait for the Explanation of Benefits from your insurance company so you know exactly want you owe to each of them.
Once you have determined that if you cannot pay the full amount at one time, contact each service provider. As I said, it might be more the one. Explain that you are unable to pay the entire bill but are able to pay say "$25" per month. Before you give the provider an amount you can pay make sure it will be easy for you to make the payment but try and pay the bill off in 12 months. You should state how much you can pay. Do not wait for the account representative to suggest you pay $100 per month if you know that is a strain on your budget. Most health care providers are thrilled when patients' call them about setting up a payment plan even when your monthly payment is low. It prevents them from having to sent the account to a collection agency.
Many people complain their insurance doesn't pay their entire medical bill but you are still receiving the discounted rates that your insurance negiotiated with the hospital and your payment plan is an interest free loan. Until we come up with something better, those of us with any form of health insurance are lucky. |

You will be billed the rest and expected to pay. If you have trouble paying you can go to the medical center and talk to the financial personnel and set up a payment plan. |

I have never seen an insurance yet cover the entire medical bill, and quite frankly imo, no one should get free medical care. Usually with insurances, you will owe a dedictible that's anywhere from $250-$2000 or higher, and then you will also owe a percentage of the bill. For instance, my insurance has a $500 deductible and then I have to pay 20% of the total bill. So what your insurance doesn't pay, you will be expected to pay the remainder. |
