You need to pass a test, to get the license for your state, and depending on where you live, you may need to have an insurance company sponsor you.

life? or car/home? it depends on the state but you usually need to get a license. Here in georgia, and in new mexico (10 yrs ago) for property/casualty you take a college class for so many hours, then go to the state to take a test to be licensed. there are requirements though to keep a license as it does expire due to laws changing frequently and you have to enroll in continuing ed classes every couple of years. you do not have to have a college degree here though (or florida, or new mexico)

You will need to pass a (fairly easy) state exam and be breathing. Check out used car sales also for even less requirements.

Would you consider being a legal insurance/identity theft sheild agent. Depending on where you live will determin if you need a license or not. I am an associate with a company and we need associates to spread the word. I could share some information with you, if you would consider it.
