Feeling Mutual

Word of mouth, by giving people good service.
Sell only policies that the customer needs.
Don't sell junky policies with too many loopholes. |

Hang your "shy suit" in the closet every morning and put on your business suit ... your go-to-work suit. Shyness has no place in sales especially in sales of products where the buyer must trust you.
Good Luck and get a mentor. |

Just because you are shy doesn't mean you can't be friendly, responsive, and knowledgeable. Most people appreciate diligence and it gives them the feeling you are working hard for them. Sell those traits (or build them if you don't have them) and you should find people that want to buy through you.
Also, cold call. It's probably the last thing you want to do if you are shy, but it's the best way to get over your fear. While you may hear no more often than yes, you'll build thicker skin and people skills necessary to sell insurance. Being an agent is a tough job, but if you stick with it, you'll make it. |

Be polite and friendly. Speak to everyone every morning, even if you don't know them. Just say good morning and proceed on with you business. You will become known as polite, personable, and a good co-worker. A little politeness goes a long way in getting your name known and remembered. They will preface it with, "the nice one". So many people are rude and unfriendly in the work environment, so you stand out when you are not. Also, do your job to the best of your ability and then some. Quality work speaks for itself. Quality work, and friendly personality make you stand out. |

Flyers and business cards. Go to parking lots, start getting them out there. |

Find places to meet people, such as rotary clubs and things like that. Sponsor a little league team in your area, advertise in your church bulletin.
Send an email to all your friends/family telling them you are doing this and letting them know you would love to help them with their insurance needs.
Just try to think of little ways to be more socially interactive, allow people to know what you do, and be friendly and interesting, and you will get a ton of business. |
