My dad recently moved out and me and my sister live with my mom. My sister's and I health plan was under my dad (Tufts Health Plan) and he took my medical card and I think i need that for the doctor. The only thing I have is my social security number and I need to room in a appointment before next friday. Is it possible for me to switch health plans to my mom's because her's is a family plan but she didn't put our names in it because we all ready had a plan, but my dad quit his job right before he moved so does that i mean me and my sister both don't have health insurance

If you are going to see a doctor who you already saw when you had the card, they probably have it on file. Depending on the state where you live, you can probably get on your Mom's policy quickly because your father losing coverage from losing his job is what is usually defined as a qualifying event. A qualifying event is basically an insurance term meaning that you are allowed to come on a plan. |

Call your dad's insurance company, provide details of his name/employment/SS# and see if you are still covered, and till what date.
Failing this, call your mom's insurance company and ask what it entails to add you and your sister, and when is the earliest it would become effective.
If you cant get insurance, and family income level is low, you may qualify for medical assistance or Chips programs. If you can avoid going to the physician office till your situation becomes clear, it will help because otherwise, the office will legitimately demand cash, and what's more, it will be a lot higher than what they would accept from an insurance company.
You may be better off going to a physician where the practice is owned by a non profit organization such as a hospital which may have charity care policies that may cover you (rather than a private physician). |

Likely, it is under HIS SS number, not yours. But your mom should have that somewhere.
You need to get confirmation that your coverage with your dad is cancelled, and then you have 30 days from THAT date, to get added to your mom's group policy (as that would be a qualifying event). |

Normally, if someone quits a job their health plan runs till the end of the month that they quit. They have already paid for that. That he took your card sucks, but you can call the provider and get the membership number. You should still have coverage until the end of the month. Check your mom's policy for when she can make changes to it. |
