I applied for med insurance through Humana One - they were going to require I get a physical before telling me if I was approved or whatever - and they have their own exam requirements - a paramed group called Exam One that comes to your house because they do not have facilities in Ohio. Or I was told I could have them come to my job. This is to draw blood and take a piss test, mind you. Told me the new trend is to require exams. I think I can find something without all this hoopla and I am not into needles to begin with so no desire to get stuck 10 times to decide what provider I want. The Exam One thing is legit - I checked it out and they do not have facilities in Ohio so why make people do this crap? More insurance scam bullshit, if you ask me. Exam One of course is a private company. I was told no biggie coming to your house - RN's are bonded and insured, can come anytime around your schedule. WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS? Where can I go for decent coverage without all this hassle? |

Many companies will require an exam depending upon your particular situation. Most likely you are of a certain age or you have not had any recent insurance coverage. You also may not have had any recent doctor visits for them to check. The insurance companies want to know your current health status so as to place you in the proper rating tier.
Exam One is legit, many health and life insurance companies use them. |

Wow, I was unaware they were doing that for medical insurance.
I'd contact the guy that does your car/house insurance, ask him if he can get you some medical quotes. If not, ask for a referral for a local guy that can. |

You are asking them to provide you health insurance, risking a million dollars, and only paying them a few hundred dollars. And they are suppose to trust your answers as to whether you are healthy?
Would you trust people not to lie?
The reason for the exam is to verify your health conditions. Insurance companies are a business, not welfare. They gamble on stuff that might happen in the future, not stuff that has already happened. That would be like finding a bookie that would let you place a bet on last year's Super Bowl. |
