My employer does not offer short term disability insurance. Anybody know of good insurance companies that offer INDIVIDUAL short term disability insurance? I want to purchase own, personal disability insurance before i have my baby in April 2008. |

None that's going to cover maternity. Otherwise, the only people that would buy it, would be like you - planning on using it SOON, then dropping it after the baby is born. Can't charge enough rates to cover claims like that.
And with a baby due in April, hey, that's like trying to place a bet after the race has been run.
My suggestion - before you pay any bills from your paycheck, take $100 and stick it in the bank for your maternity leave expenses. And don't buy anything new for the baby - shop yard sales. |

Not going to happen.
You would never be able to find a short term disability policy that would cover your pregnancy when you're already pregnant.
Start setting aside money in savings now for use during maternity leave. And also verify with your employer whether or not you have any accumulated sick/vacation time that can be used while you're on maternity leave. (If you haven't already, of course.) |

Disability coverage will not cover pre-existing coverage, such as pregnancy. You will need to start saving yourself for the big event. Congrats on the baby!! |

If you live in Canada you can call Human Resources and inquire about maternity leave.They will send you a form to fill out and send in.You would receive maternity benefits until you go back to work.Its similar to unemployment insurance.Hope this has been helpful to you.(just to let you know being pregnant is not a disability) |

You are out of luck. None of them will cover a pre-existing condition. Since you are about 3 months pregnant, it would not be covered.

No seriously. Most STD plans don't cover maternity to begin with. Now you wan them to cover maternity when you're already pregnant? No dice. |
