I hurt my back while at work (walgreens) and need to get an X-ray. The boss said that the insurance ppl haven't called him back yet, so to just go pay out of pocket. but shouldn't there be like a workers comp. number or something that i use to get my cost covered? even the doc. office lady said so. id apprecaite any help someone can give me, cause if i pay out of pocket, im fairly certain i WON'T be reimbursed- plus x-rays are EXPENSIVE. |

If your company still hasn't heard from the work comp carrier than I suggest that you have your doctor file it on your behalf. I would seek treatment and get your check up for your back and than bill the insurance company once your claim starts. Each time you wait and wait it looks shady and shady as it goes. Questions like, was he playing sports when the injury occurred.
So see the doctor, ask them to file the claim on your behalf. |

Every Walgreens has a list of local doctors offices, clinics, etc. that are meant for workers comp. injuries where you don't have to pay. Also, in case of emergency, you can go anywhere and workers comp will still cover. |

Workers comp is NEVER EVER pre-approved.
Go get the Xray. Ask them to bill the insurance company.
Heaven forbid, if it comes up something like a tumor in your spine (clearly not work related), then you ahve to either pay out of pocket, or put it under your health insurance.
How can they know for sure, it's work related, until AFTER the xray? They can't. So they don't pre-approve. |

If you have health insurance make sure you use it. Have you filed a workers compensation claim with your employer? If not do so immediately - find the form and fill it out. You need to establish a written record of the accident and claim. Do you know the human resource number for Walgreens if you do call it? Don't wait for your manager. You have to push the issue.
If you have questions try your state's employment services as a possible resource.

it should be wkmns comp and you shouldn't have to pay anything - tell you boss to call the home office and give you the wkmns comp doctor that you need to see asap - otherwise the company could have a lawsuit on their hands for denying you access |
