im 18, and i want to know everything about getting a job at a insurance company. ( account executive ) or other job positions. Maybe even to work my way up?
Most of them require you to take a state exam. Call one up and ask for an interview and guidance. Prudential, Met, are some you can call. No doubt they are looking for a young bright mind.

I worked for an insurance co for 30 years. Glad they let me out for good behavior. Very boring...& pays poorly.

Most insurance companies require a 4 year college degree. It does not have to be in anything specific - but you have to have it.

A BS is certainly a good idea. I recommend contacting your agent or any local agent about working for them, even if just part time. This would be a great way to learn a lot about insurance and the insurance business. They might even help you to get a producer license in your state.
If you are really serious about wanting to work in insurance, check out www.aicpcu.org. This is where you can purchase text books and register for exams to get insurance industry designations.

To be an account exec. at a large insurance company you are going to need AT LEAST a 4 year degree (preferably in business), and related experience (sales, etc.). They may even require an MBA...depends on the company.
You really won`t get ANYWHERE without at least a bachelor`s degree. But the same goes for just about every industry.

I work for Geico Insurance. They are always hiring and pay good. If you are looking for a job go to Geico.com. They hire recent High School or College Graduates.

Yeah, at 18, you're not going to walk into an account exec position, trust me. Working your way up will likely take at LEAST 10 years, if you're really good.
Go get a job filing at a local agency during summers and holidays - or answering phones, or be a volunteer intern for a few months. That's how you learn about the business.
