eightieschick36 | Insurance For The Ederly? |
Hi, Everyone, I have a good friend, who’s going through some trying times. Her mother is ill and she doesn’t have money to bury her if she passes. I know there are insurance companies that would cover burial cost. Does anyone know where she could possibility get life insurance to cover the cost for the burial for her mom? |

Well, just about ANY independent agent can do it, however, it's pretty much going to COST the same as the burial. If you go to one of those daytime soap companies, they charge you about $25 a month for $500 of coverage. AND they don't pay out the first two years. Do the math - you're GOING to pay for the burial out of pocket, one way or the other.
NO ONE is going to give you odds and sell you a $5,000 policy for $100 a year, if you're old and ill. They'd go out of business that way. |

Contact AARP (Associate for American Retired Persons). They have life insurance people can buy if they are over age 50. Good luck. |

Your friend should talk with an independent insurance agent in the area.
There are burial policies available to people of almost any health. However, if your friend's mother passes away in the next 2 years, the company will only payback the premiums paid and a little interest.
These policies cost a pretty penny.
Good Luck |

If she is already very ill the chances of an insurance agent picking up that risk is very low.
She would be better off to liquidate some of her mothers assests to try and pick up the funeral expenses.
She may want to check and see if her mother already has a life policy in force. The other thing that she may still have is some government bonds that could be cashed in.
If none of that was the case she could call the Funeral home and try and work out a cash deal with a payment plan.
Sorry to hear about the difficult situation and I hope you see the importance of getting life insurance at a young age where you can lock in the premium for a long period of time. |

Insurance is to protect for an unseen risk. If she is already sick and on her death bed, it is too late for insurance. She will have to liquidate her mom's estate and pay for a modest funeral from it and possibly from her own assets. She should check with several funeral homes in the area. |
