Insurance career?
should you take a job selling insurance if the lead is provided. Do these companies pay base at all. What question can be asked in interview?

I think it's a sad job from pre-internet days

See if you can get with a casualty company like State Farm or Allstate. If this is a Life Ins. Co. forget it.

Jyothi, some companies provide leads to executives for generating business. You performance will be based on conversion from lead to customer. It requires selling skills and customer convenience skills. Interviewer mainly test your behavior, attitude and communication skills. Pleasant speaking, flair for traveling , flexi hours working are some attributes what companies seeking from candidates.

I turn down lead programs from carriers because they are a waste of my time...Most of my business comes from either refferals from other customers or through leads I developed. Leads I develop are from cold calls.

Lead is such an ambigiuos word. What really is a lead? To some, a lead is an entry in a phone book, a business card someone dropped in to try to win a free lunch...So I would be very careful....

Being a direct carrier rep is not for everyone. You are at the mercy of your pricing..I was a direct sales rep for a major carrier. While they did pay me a nice salary, they failed to understand that when our pricing is 20% over the market, sales will suffer.... So they will go ahead and respond with "sell the quality not the price"...Being an independent now, I kind of find it interesting that every carrier rep says the same thing

I work for a life and health insurance company that provides leads to ALL of it's agents.

The leads are what you make of them. My first 12 months, I relied solely on those leads and did very well. I made money and got lots of referrals. I started purchasing leads from an outside source to broaden my service area. I haven't seen a difference (except what I am spending).

No, unless you want a straight sales job. MOST leads are worth what you pay for them - nothing.
