I have my lg viewty covered by insurance, and my ipod video covered under that.
My water bottle leaked in my bag and my ipod is completely dead and my phone is very dodgy (says it fully charged, then dies from lack of battery).
Accidental water damage IS covered by my insurance, so no worries there.
However, I need proof of purchase for my ipod, which I don't have. I bought it on ebay over a year ago, and therefore can't access the info via ebay or paypal, and neither can I contact the seller.
I have 2 questions:
#1 Does anyone know how I can access the info? If I contact ebay/paypal and explain do they actually have the records to be able to print off my purchase or ANYTHING that might constitute as proof of purchase?
#2 A friend of mine has an identical white 30gb ipod video, bought in the same month. If I was to locate proof of purchase (from an apple shop this time) and use that, does that constitute fraud?
I'm so stuck in this situation! :(!

It was a long time ago - I'm not sure if the funds were already in my paypal or if they came directly from my bank account, but I never thought of my account statements! Does a simple statement count as proof? Even though it has nothing on it saying that it was my ipod? It would just say 'paypal transaction'? |

#1 - keep looking. those sites have the info you need buried in there somewhere.
#2, YES, that would be fraud. Resist the temptation...please. If you bought it on eBay, you should be able to find a record of the transaction...the money came from Your account somehow....get old bank statements and locate the transaction.

Access your paypall account you should be able to locate your purchase history and so prove you bought the ipod.
Don't be tempted to try #2 it's fraud

usually they will accept a quote from a couple of retailers any insurance claim i have had thats what i had to do. |

Hi,write to paypal they will send you a copy of the orininal receipt.If you paid by credit card you can ask your bank has they will have a copy.Good Luck |

you shouldn't have to show proof of purchase. and it wouldn't matter if you bought your ipod new or used insurance is for the replacement of you ipod and it doesn't matter what you paid for it |

in most insurance policies water damage is restricted to domestic water only ie pipes within the home you may not be covered for a leaking bottle in your bag

If the phone is insured and you have proof of insurance it shouldn't matter when it was purchased. I would like to know how this comes out. Are you looking for proof you have insurance? Call the company you believe your insured with. |

1# eBay still has the info FOR SURE. They keep basically all data. But maybe they are not willing to give it out, either because of some dumb rules they have internally, or because its technically very difficult.Try to send them an eMail, and if you do not get a result, try it again a little more persistant and complain a little, LOL.
2# Obviously you are not supposed to use a receipt which does not match your product, don't know if it is fraud or not, but probably it is. I would try to get the data from eBay first. |

#1 Why can't you get the info via Paypal?
If I go into my Paypal history, I can see transactions (including details) back to May 2005 when I started using it.
You have to go into "History", (fourth menu item across in "My Account" tab) and enter the time period...
