Insurance companies..is it just me, or are they all?
becoming more lax and incompetant , yet charging the earth for their shoddy services.? for example. virgin car insurance. my car was written off, payment was taken for the years insurance from the payout i got, and yet the customer servic has no details of this 150 quid payment, passes me from office to office, to be told..oh yep..we do have the money, but can you call the claims dept to ask them to let us know....aarrgghh such crap and we have to pay through the teeth for it .

Please don't let one bad experience at one insurance company put you off all companies.

Customer service is really gone. It has disappeared. Until the customer starts demanding it again, we will never get it back.

Yes, we have to fight for better service, and I do.

I think most of the time insurance companies are fair. I am sorry that a lot of people have bad agents who do not properly advise their customers when to and not to put in a claim. That is the biggest error. Ask you agent's advice and hopefully you have a good one.

dopeysaurus
No its not just you, you'd think that a business thats makes its money from other peoples troubles would try to at least not cause any more.

I think mandatory coverage for car insurance is a good idea. You can imagine if you were knocked by a car and you have nowhere to go to claim for damages or injury.

However i agree service is very important and you should demand it or threaten to make it public. Most insurance companies don't want bad publicity because they sell a PROMISE so if they can't seem to want to pay their future business will be at stake.
There must be a state body which you can complain to if they give you a run around.
Doing your due diligence before you buy the insurance is crucial.

And I;ll bet you are with them because their rates are the cheapest you could fine.
Everybody wants the cheapest possible rates they can get from an insurance company, but expects the kind of customer/claims service you'd get if you pay top dollar.

You can have cheap rates, you can have excellent service,, but you can't' have both.

I've been dealing with a local agent for years and years and years. Whenever I had a problem, one phone call was all it ever took.
And I once compared their rates with that of an internet company. the difference, $ 25.00 a year. (about 14 pounds)

agree. My car recently got written off and I ended up dealing with 6 different companies at one point. You would think they would try and make it easy for you, but they just pass you from pillar to post and we pay them aswell.

Not all insurance companies, much less insurance lines, are this bad. I have had both good and bad experiences.

This sounds like a very small insurance company (compared to the bigger names). Not to say it wouldn't happen with the bigger ones as well.

In regards to auto being required, In most states that is not the case. You are required to show proof of financial responsibility. There is a difference. And the states mandated this to protect you. Otherwise, when someone gets in a wreck, there would be lawsuits filling the court rooms for damages that don't exist and no payments being made.

bigtomobeirne
hi,they just want your money love, there incompetant with your money, but when it come;to there money there very good, tom.

TheTerminator
Don't get me started on insurance companies.

You ring up to take out a new policy and the sales department are your best mate and can't wait to take your money. Then when your house get's burgled and all your stuff is nicked you have to ring the claims department where you sit on hold for 20 minutes, then get treated like some kind of criminal when they eventually answer the phone and make you fill in about 10 different forms and spend 8 weeks processing your claim.

And as for car insurance, if you dare to make a single claim then your premiums cost 5 times as much for the next 3 years so you end up worse off that if you hadn't bothered claiming.

Personally I don't bother with insurance anymore (apart from car insurance cos you've got no choice) as it's such a bl00dy rip off.

Madmax
Here in America they are the biggest crooks around. They lobbbied congress for years to make coverage mandatory.
