Insurance company & HIV?
Does anyone know of any U.S. carrier that WILL cover an HIV positive individual, even if the premiums are high? If so, do you have a link to their website and/or number to them?
Additional Details
Within reason, premium cost is not a concern here. Client simply wants coverage if possible and I'm trying to see if there is any carrier at all that may handle it.

Contrary to some of the answers given here, some HIV positive individuals are actually insurable. You didn't specify whether your client wishes life or health insurance, so I'll advise you on both.

1) Life insurance -- there are some insurers that issue regular policies to HIV positive individuals; however, their condition cannot have progressed into AIDS (which, at that point, they aren't insurable under a regular policy with a higher rating). As far as I know, there isn't a list of carriers that are writing policies on HIV + individuals; consult a "high risk" broker -- maybe you and s/he can split the commission. The second option is a "modified benefit life" policy that covers accidental death ONLY for the first two years (natural death results in a return of premiums paid). Thereafter, the face amount is payable. There are no exams necessary and the medical questions are minimal, such as "have you been hospitalized in the past 60 days," etc.

2) Health insurance -- call your client's resident state's insurance commissioner and ask whether there's a State "high risk pool." High risk pools cannot turn anyone down due to health. If there isn't a high risk pool, ask the insurance commission's representative if s/he knows of any alternatives, which vary by state (for example, in my State, self-employed individuals and small businesses cannot be asked about the health status of any participant -- the coverage is guaranteed to be issued, as long as other requirements are met). Also, don't forget to check into programs run by the state's department of health, since many states have programs for HIV + individuals.

I hope this helps.

For life insurance? I'm sure it can be done, but you might end up paying about 110% of the face value of the policy. For health coverage? I don't know, but if they took you on, they'd exclude the HIV related treatments as preexisting conditions.

Nope. Sorry. It's a certain death claim coming down the pipe, and their actuaries won't be able to guarantee that they can make a profit off of the policy premiums.
